What do you like best?

I like that it can be embedded into my company's website. I also like that it provides the customer's account number when a chat request pops up.

What do you dislike?

I dislike that it barely functions as a chat program. I imagine it probably has better functionality if used where multiple operators were able to pick up a chat request, but as a one-on-one program, even AOL instant messenger was more functional. You cannot copy/paste conversations, although you can save them. They do not get automatically archived; you have to manually save them. You cannot pick up a chat request after a certain amount of time. It runs slowly on anything but the best computers.

Recommendations to others considering the product

This is probably a good program for those who would like to have multiple users able to pick up a chat, like with a help line or something. However, as a direct way for dedicated customers to get ahold of you, it is severely lacking.

It does allow customers to quickly get questions answered from the website.

We decided to use WhosOn as it seemingly had some good, interesting features. However, in truth they have not matched our expectations at all. On the standard package they have options to include pre-chat surveys, wrap up status etc, all of which seemed really appealing. However, whilst they are easy to implement and display fairly well on the website, there is NO reporting around it, rendering them useless. When I asked their chat team about it, they said the package would need to be upgraded to get reporting on it. Why include the option and capability to implement if basic reporting is not available? I asked for this feedback to be passed on and the chat agent seemed completely disinterested. We also had (and have) an issue with chats being received out of hours - despite everything being set up correctly. This problem was not resolved and although a suggestion was made by their "technical support" team, there seemed little interest in getting to the bottom of it and indeed is still the case. There is also an option that should no operators be available to chat during working hours, to display a message and forward the customer to a new URL; but this does not show them any message and redirects automatically providing a bad service. Again, no positive solution was given to this.All in all, whilst some ideas seem appealing, there are too many disappointing aspects to consider our experience a satisfactory one.

It's always being updated and seems to be simple for the team to navigate.

The default chat settings for operators are not ideal for our team, so we do have to go through the hassle of ensuring everyone has the correct settings, especially in terms of availability when seemingly idle.

I've been using WhosOn for about 2 years now. At first, it was a very simple and reliable application. Over time though, I believe we have began to press the envelope a little and that has resulted in a few bugs here and there. The response time to our bug reports was a bit lacking at first, but they have really responded to our request for better support and I believe the software is becoming more stable every day. Our future looks good with WhosOn, but only if they continue to support and grow with our growing business needs.
