What do you like best?
Uberflip integrates with Marketo out of the box.
What do you dislike?
Uberflip was integrated into our site as a subdomain, ex: https://uf-hosted-content.domain.com. The content that lived on the subdomain was replicated from content that was originally published in a subfolder, ex: https://www.domain.com/original-content-source/. Uberflip was supposed to canonicalize their hosted content back to the original content source. This is where things went very wrong.
Uberflip did add the proper canonical tags, however they also included their hosted version of the content in the xml sitemap. Ex: https://uf-hosted-content.domain.com/sitemap.xml . What this did was let search engines know that the Uberflip version of the content was the version to be indexed.
The results were catastrophic. Organic traffic plummeted due to the mixed signals Google was receiving:
1. Canonicalize the content
2. Index the content
When bringing up the flaws in the xml sitemap configuration to the Uberflip support team and engineers, they were very defensive in acknowledging that it was an issue. Even after they did acknowledge the flaws, they took weeks to get the issue fixed. They just didn't care.
We eventually migrated off their platform and saw a nice rebound in organic traffic.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We were trying to solve an issue with an older CMS that didn't have a strong user experience. While Uberflip did bring a stronger user experience, the negative impact to organic traffic was monsterous. Ultimately, we built a bigger, better in-house platform to have the best of both worlds, traffic and conversions. It's best to have the control in the hands of developers who have your best interests in mind.
Response from Jason Oakley of Uberflip
Hi there, thank you so much for your review and candid feedback about your experience working with our team and platform. While I can't know for sure what specific instance you are referring to because your name and company were not provided, there is only one case similar to this that I am aware of so I feel confident in responding accordingly.
I want to start by apologizing for the experience you had with our platform and team. We strive to make every customer successful and handle each concern with the utmost importance, and the fact that you had this experience is unacceptable.
I also want to express our sincere thanks for helping us identify some important SEO improvements that needed to be made in our platform. Your willingness to work with us and uncover the issues affecting your SEO led to us implementing a number of valuable product enhancements since then.
We take pride in Uberflip being a great platform for SEO and the majority of our customers see positive organic results. That said, there is always room to improve and it's because of passionate customers like you that we are continuously able to do it.
What do you like best?
The sales streams for b2b are a good tool. They are unique and I'd imagine they set your business apart. We used them in a b2c setting and they very obviously weren't meant to be used that way, but if you were using them for b2b then I think they'd be great.
What do you dislike?
We were promised a fantastic integration with Hubspot and truly, Uberflip and Hubspot barely go together at all. So if you have Hubspot look for a new tool because this isn't the one. The Uberflip dashboards are extremely vague and we had a very hard time getting the analytics we wanted to even be able to evaluate if Uberflip was a good investment. If glitches came up with our Hub it would take a very long time to get them fixed. If we wanted any sort of customization to our Hub, these changes also took forever. We would hope on monthly calls with the Uberflip staff and they were always very friendly and would promise all sorts of things and then their follow through was terrible and things would constantly slip through the cracks.
It felt like Uberflip constantly over promised and under delivered.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As mentioned, hire a developer and build this functionality yourself. We are so, so glad we did and are enjoying the benefits of doing so. The price tag is very steep, especially since the price increases year-over-year. We actually wanted to cancel our subscription sooner but got stuck because we weren't aware of their "must cancel months in advance" policy. So if you do choose to test it out, be very clear on when your contract starts and ends, because once it renews there is no way to get out of it. Be sure to be crystal clear with the staff on what your goals and intentions are, because we were extremely disappointed by minimal Hubspot integration and therefore very, VERY limited access to analytics.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We did not have success with Uberflip. We worked with a developer to go through our Uberflip stuff and build out our own new blog on our website and have had a much better experience. Given Uberflips steep price tag (that goes up each year), you are much, MUCH better off just investing in a developer to build yourselves the functionality and then owning it.
That being said, we modeled the look of our new blog after our Uberflip hub, so that was something that looked nice and was worth copying.
What do you like best?
Uberflip has a lot of potential for Marketing and Sales teams to work in-sync
What do you dislike?
It is very costly for what the platform is and offers. The back end has become more and more complex over the past couple of years, and it is hard to just jump in and action something.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Problems we were trying to solve was an easy, intuitive way to serve up content, and for Sales to share out easily, and with visibility and the ability to track. We did not realize any benefits.
What do you like best?
Being able to group like content together, and have it automatically suggest that content to readers. I also like that when I update a CTA, it automatically updates everywhere.
What do you dislike?
For the amount we're paying for this tool, the limits on the number of marketing streams and CTAs is truly staggering. The reporting is also extremely limited; it gives content a "Content Score" but it's unclear how that score is calculated.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Uberflip can be a good solution for content distribution if your organization has a single service or product.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We initially launched Uberflip as a quick and easy way to deliver content via our website.
What do you like best?
UI is pretty easy to use. I like the color
What do you dislike?
I'd like more function that supports sales. I'd like to add adhoc decks. Have better tracking so I can see when a customer open it what they looked at and if they shared anything. it would be great to include pools, questions or otherwise give views the ability to give feedback or ask their own questions. Also adding Vynyard Videos and third party documents.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Sending custom content without attachements.
