What do you like best?
1. Ease of use.
2. Uses spot-instances(aws)/low-priority(Azure) very effectively.
3. Support of multiple Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure)
4. Graphical view of resource utilization along with savings.
5. Best suitable for big-data kind of operations, where brustable capacity is required for a short duration.
6. Provide effective suggestions on the deployed/already running clusters.
What do you dislike?
Some of the time the response time is bit slow, otherwise as of now nothing much to really dislike it.
Would like them to implement few more features like:
1. To enable the USERDATA update for already provisioned Elastigroups.
2. Provide details if the cloud providers fails to provide adequate resources or resources get hanged.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend to consider Spotinst to manage your cloud resources & certainly you will feel the difference.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Huge cost savings when we deployed Spotinst to manage our spark cluster. It manages our spark worker nodes very effectively & turned out to be very cost effective.
1. The userdata section helped us to make the things very much automated & worker nodes are getting added to the master automatically.
2. We could also ensure the bare minimum capacity required by specifying the no of on-demand VMs vs the spot instance. We found this very effective. Thanks Spotinst.
3. Any changes made to the back-end cloud provider is immediately available to the spot inst.
What do you like best?
The best thing being the fact that it saves us a lot of money at my current firm by managing our Spot Instances and takes away the headache of setting it up in AWS Console.
The dashboard is quite simple and easy to use.
What do you dislike?
The initial configuration and setting up a Elastigroup can be quite a cumbersome process of going through multiple steps.
There is a lack of clarity as as to what all the different features do in there. For eg, we only use the elastigroup feature and have never bothered to explore into other features which I am sure provide some value for an organisation.

Must try! Saves you a lot of headache of managing Spot instances.

Assigning and managing spot instances for our micro-services.
Its does save us a lot of money and the fact that metrics such as Money Saved in terms of Actual and Potential and Metrics related to AWS Load Balancers are also available makes it quite helpful to handle deployments in one place.

The ability to balance spots and on-demand workloads and have a comprehensive dashboard for my K8s and Elasticsearch clusters.

It is user friendly, has many graphical interfaces for visualization and is efficient and scalable for big data operations

The response time is sometimes unreliable

Spotinst has enabled us to automate daily processes and to easily keep track of elastigroups, their instances, costs and details.
What do you like best?
Great value and experience. Spotinst saves a lot of 60%-70% of our cloud costs.

AWS policies often change to add more work.
