What do you dislike?
They renew automatically and after notifying them
Recommendations to others considering the product
So far it seems to be the best marketing automation software to use if you are a current Salesforce user.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We implemented in 2014 with the promise of unlimited support, detailed reporting, and google adwords connectivity. At this time we have none of those things. They auto renewed us based on an agreement that has since expired but supposedly links to a master service agreement that says they will auto renew forever if not notified. We asked to replace with other services but to no avail.
What do you like best?
The product seemed like it would be great, has some better reporting features than our previous solution (Act-On.
My sales rep and CRM Engineer were nice to work with, but upper management has treated us like garbage.
What do you dislike?
I signed on with Pardot in January, very eager and highly motivated to get a new solution in place. However after many false starts over the course of three weeks, it came to light that Pardot does not work with our implementation of Salesforce. (We use "Contact Roles" in Salesforce to create many-to-many relationships between Accounts and Contacts.
When we discovered that the solution would not work, we asked to be let out of our contract, which they would not permit. Even though they misrepresented their product's capability - they claim they work with custom objects, but clearly this is only the case in certain circumstances - they won't work with MY custom objects.
They asked me to meet with a CRM Engineer on their side, to see if we could work it out, which I agreed to. Within five minutes of talking to the CRM Engineer (who was very nice, he said that the system just would not work with our Salesforce implementation (exactly what I said, and said there was no point in trying to make a round peg fit in a square hole. Great, I thought, that will be the end of it.
No such luck. Even though I completely stopped using the service and asked repeatedly to be let out of the contract beginning on February 7th, they want to charge me through March 22nd, for something that I haven't been able to use at all. I can't believe that a company affiliated with Salesforce (who claim to be incredible customer service pioneers could treat their customers so poorly. I have a feeling Mark Benioff would be horrified if he knew just how lousy we have been treated through this process.
I could understand not letting us out of the contract if we just decided that we didn't like the product or something. But this is entirely a deficit in THEIR PRODUCT, and I was clearly misled about their capabilities, rendering our contract null and void. Any normal, self-respecting company would see that the error is on the vendor's side.
Bottom line: I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. Stay away from this company!!!
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Reporting gaps in existing tools. No benefits realized because the solution won't work, and Pardot is holding my money hostage.

What do you like best?
There were lots of promises up front, but once we started using it did not live up to claims.
What do you dislike?
We tried to use Pardot to automate an outbound lead generation process we were using Outlook to achieve. When we moved the process over to Pardot, our e-mail open rate dropped in half. This was mostly due to switching from text based e-mail to .html (almost all of Pardot functionality cannot be used with text based e-mail. We tried to duplicate the look of text based e-mails in html, but the open rate did not improve. We then used Pardot with text based e-mail, and recovered some of loss in open rate, however at that point there was no need to use Pardot because all other functionality was lost. We worked Pardot and their on-boarding team through this process and they had no useful suggestions. We tried to terminate our contract and they said we could not. So we have been billed for a one year subscription for an expensive tool that is useless. Needless to say we are no longer using Salesforce for anything in our business. Working with Salesforce is like dealing with Time Warner or AT&T.
Recommendations to others considering the product
Don't do it.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We were attempting to automate a lead generation process we had been using Outlook for.
