Marg Rootstock ERP

The potential rootstock has for solving several major problems with our Manufacturing, Sales and Logistics... but it's been nearly a year without being able to use the product. We see the potential, unfortunately the execution has been less than smooth with little to no help from tech support. If we had more help with implementation, the system would be up and running by now.

Paying a high price tag for a product we can't use and charged extra to develop the features that should already be in place. If a software takes more than 6 months to configure and setup, then the client should not have to pay full price. In addition, if a feature is not present that should be, a client should not have be charged to have it developed.

Get all your sales reps promises in writing.

Keeping track of materials & labor costs for each catalog and custom product sold. Making products easy to find and configure to place a quote for a customer. The ability to track a product through the product development and sale life cycle.

None so far, can't use the software...

Having to type in a part number, go to engineering item master->inventory->inventory quantities just to figure out what we have on the shelf. Three different screens just to do what I could do on one with RMA's

If you like worker productivity to decrease and employee frustration to increase exponentially then this is the system for you!

N/A This has made every aspect of inventory management/issuing work orders/RMA processing more difficult and time consuming.

Absolutely nothing is good about Rootstock, the software is clunky and the people are very ignorant.

They have a very convincing sales process for manufacturers like ourselves with visuals on how they'll solve all your operational problems, but in actual fact, it is a very clunky outdated system with a very incapable implementation team. What was supposed to be a few months implementation turned into 8+ months with less than 50% of the setup completed. I spoke to one of their current customers that had been using the system for a few years and they said it was ok, and they ended up having to fix some of the issues themselves as Rootstocks own people weren't able to sort some functionality requirement they had... I should have taken a cue from that and not decided to go with them.

After many promises not getting delivered (many false promises, implementation and training sessions with multiple errors and the same errors over and over not getting fixed from session to session, as well as an item list that was submitted for over a month and not being uploaded (apparently a technical person had to do it and they somehow couldn't find the time to do it, we cut our contract with them based on them not delivering a software and implementation as promised.

Since then I advised a medium-sized New York Manufacturer (friend of mine to not use them and related my story in detail. They decided to go ahead with them and now 8 months into it have called me saying exactly the same thing is happening to them and want to get out of the contract. This is what prompted this review! Avoid this company at all costs and look at someone else, there are much better options out there, even if Salesforce tries to tell you otherwise...

Do not consider Rootstock unless you want a lot of technical issues and like clunky / power user type applications. Do your research even on the less known ERP's as we found a much better solution in Mark 7 ERP. They may look less proven but in our case much better.

The problems I am solving is by choosing a different ERP provider than Rootstock, we don't have the issues Rootstock will give you and get to work with a much nicer team of people.

The patience of the development and implimentaton team.

The amount of customization that is required to implement this software - and of course, each customization costs quite a bit - has delayed this project significantly. The project team felt that the sales team really understood the complexity of our 100% remote (no warehouse, no brick-and-mortar business. The team was convinced the product could deliver everything needed. That has not proven to be the reality.

Supposed to be able to track and reorder stock from one vendor for a critical business unit. No benefits have been realized at this point.

Nothing. I think it's better for our production team, however the front office has a lot of trouble doing almost everything we need to do.

Can't modify or customize the forms, packing slips, sales order acknowledgements or invoices unless you are an apex wizard.

Can't write a custom email when emailing acknowledgements to customers or invoicing.

Reports are difficult to generate.

Lots of clicking involved when entering customer orders. For example, looking at customer terms, changing the ship to address, always clicking save so no information is lost.

Can't track where an order is in production.

Difficult to enter in orders that have custom features.

If running a report on multiple orders and BOM's are not created for certain items, it's difficult to run a report to see what items need BOM's and what items do not.

The size of the font on the Work Order Travelers is WAY too small.

Consider other options if your company relives heavily on providing an exceptional customer experience when ordering your product. Rootstock is beneficial for tracking your raw material requirements, however you cannot personalize anything that you send directly to your customers from Rootstock.

I think production has realized the benefits of Rootstock. The front office continues to struggle with our basic job functions.
