Although the first year with Ranorex was fine and increased our productivity overall, the first problem that appeared after the standard support period expired gave the whole cooperation a bad taste.Apart from the fact that if you don't buy support continuously and the problem appears after a year and a half, for example, you have to buy support for the whole past period just to get someone to talk to you, after buying support and reporting the problem it took them half a year to even get to the problem analysis during which we were without a working application. Several times we had to tediously report the same problem over and over again as we were shuffled around by support teams who had no continuity for our support case.
And when our support expired again for a period during which we could not use the program, Ranorex referred us to another support purchase, still without a working solution. This is totally unacceptable and definitely not a pro-customer approach.

What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We were very excited by Ranorex and thank God they are offering trial period. We have various apps from Powerpoint plugins, iOS, Android, Windows store, Angular (Webapps) and that was the reason to consider Ranorex. The play and record function is terrible, not even one app could replay recorded test case without failure and I'm talking about very simple and basic test cases on various technologies. If we tried to execute only steps which were failing they didn't fail. Only error we got is something like "Failed to find item 'XYZ.ApplicationUnderTest.Gold'. Please check that your whitelist allows Ranorex to access the process." Interesting because that was 7th step in test case, somehow first 6 steps could access the process!IDE is unstable. For example, for some crazy reason spy and recorder didn't see app from IDE but if we ran standalone version of spy or recorder, who'la it's working.. Well at least it looks like it's working. I found possible workaround on their troubleshoot page but it's not working. In 3 days we couldn't do anything with this tool unlike some free tools that were way more intuitive and reliable. We didn't even try mobile considering how it works on it's native platform Windows.I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone, or maybe it works better with older apps written in C# or C++ but for our apps it was terrible. Ranorex is in my opinion jack of all trades master of none.
