What do you like best?
When the smart E-Cat function works correctly ( which is rare) it is a great tool.
What do you dislike?
The customer service is horrible. The system crashes often and when it does the tier one technicians can rarely fix it. Once it gets handed to tier two, you can expect to wait for days for a call back, if at all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't purchase this software, you will constantly be on the phone with customer support.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
The amount of time I have had to spend on the phone trying to fix software issues greatly out weighs any benefits of the software.
What do you like best?
Mature software that has most of the features an owner is looking for except reliability. However, its not intuitive.
What do you dislike?
They don't offer a Demo other than a webinar demo by a salesperson. Not intuitive. I paid, what I consider an excessive amount for training. I can't imagine anyone being able to use this program without an a large investment in training time. The way functions are performed is not consistent, my entire staff felt the same way. Unavailable tech support. Staff got tired of calling tech support so they just left machines not working and worked around down machines.
I was always worried my staff would come in to non working software. You have to rely on their tech support to do installs for new machines.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your Homework! Don't buy RO Writer without a proper demo and go through every step you'll do in the course of working RO Writer. Once they lock you in they won't let go! They're on a new platform. However, Based on feedback I have received from other shop owners many issues are still there. I went with a software thats month to month, they earn my business every month.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
After 1 year RO writer did not solve any business problems, it only added problems and stress. It was so much of a problem, I moved to a new software package, while still paying for RO writer. After speaking with them on multiple occasions and not receiving any concessions or goodwill. I just decided to live and learn. I will never buy software from a company that doesn't allow a legitimate demo. Instead of Ro Writer doing good business and just chalking this one up as a loss they continue to bill me for my contract. I understand they are within their right to do so, And I will pay in full as agreed.
What do you like best?
This is a tough one to answer. It doesn't crash too often and it doesn't randomly delete data but like once a year I guess?
What do you dislike?
This is going to be a big list. It crashes, its an access database, it doesn't work across different operating systems so it's PC only, it won't integrate with other tools because it is an access database. It's interface is outdated and reporting is incredibly limited. You can't dive into data and there isn't a way to to search for customers based on criteria for sales data, only last name, vin or RO number. Support is slow, almost everything has to be escalated to tier 2, it isn't designed to work with most modern security and software solutions, so if you have a server you're going to spend a lot of money on your IT guy.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend looking at cloud based more modern software for your shop. You'll be able to use tablets, access data from anywhere and integrate with other tools that are developed more easily and grow your business easier.
