I took out a year's plan on 19/7/18. If I could give no stars it would be more appropriate.Since then the software has never functioned correctly. In the beginning it was small things like auto login not working, also not being able to login to Amazon, Ebay, PayPal, my bank & any UK TV channels without receiving an email or phone call to verify my login 1st.However over time it got to me being unable to use it at all on either W7 or W8.1, so for over a week now I've had no service even after them 'Screensharing' for 2 hours.The problem appears to be due to permanent Beta software being updated every day 'til eventually not working at all. I have asked for a refund of my remaining subscription without a reply.They replied blaming my O/S needing reinstalling and re having problems with me connecting to bank etc said it was nothing to do with the VPN! Anyway I took a day doing reinmstallations and my other software, it did speed up my machine but still took over an hour to install PrivateVPN, at 1 stage saying my TAP was not installed properly (exactly the same message I had before) & Net Framework 4 needing installing manually, (another message as I had before), all in all not good.So I decided to research VPN outside connections on the Web, 1 interesting article I found wastech.co vpn troubleshooting fix vpn problemsI'm not allowed to put the web address here.it sort of says VPN's do sometimes affect your secure outside connections.To sum up my opinion has not changed re PrivateVPN's software being a big problem.

Didn't work trying to access iPlayer (from Mexico). I stated this and asked to make use of their "30 Day Money Back Guarantee" within 90 minutes of purchasing it (and having bought the usable Hola! VPN in the meantime). After a few obfuscating emails I received one the next day from someone called Martin, who claimed to be the CEO (read till the very end!), implying that I was mistaken and asking me to search through my internet history to tell him the exact iPlayer URL I'd tried to connect to (though I should point out the biggest problem was that their software did not connect to 4/5 servers). I refused, saying I'd already explained (their website says you only have to give the reason you want the refund, not give endless technical details), that it would prove nothing if he was unable to replicate my issue at a different time from a different location, had already wasted enough time on it and that I would now rather spend my time telling people their money back guarantee is “bullsh*t”. Martin responded (now copied below and in one of his screenshots), claiming that I was lying, that they can prove it (still waiting) and asking for me never to contact him again. Ask yourself this, what kind of company refuses a $7.67 refund and instead claims the customer is lying? It’s really quite bizarre. They also don't seem to realise that a customer will already be frustrated when they ask for a refund having wasted some time trying to get their software to work. Frustratingly, PayPal won't process a refund independently because they only take into account whether an item is delivered. However, EU law states that I can request a refund without justification within 14 days so I believe PrivateVPN is breaking the law by refusing a refund.* I love that Martin keeps responding by saying I'm lying, I'm a troll and that I have some “agenda” - like I might be from a rival VPN who flew to Mexico simply to buy PrivateVPN for an hour and then ask for a refund, knowing that they would obfuscate and finally refuse. He has even shared my personal email in a screenshot below, again breaching EU law. So a company called PrivateVPN (which is a tautology in itself) is sharing the personal email address of a customer with the public. I only have to change a punctuation mark on here and he responds, yet again claiming I am dishonest and my life's work is to ruin PrivateVPN. It's like he hasn't worked out that you, dear reader, will read my review first and every time he responds with some bizarre assertion, I can add a clarification that you will read first. He has confused my clarifying who wrote what in an email with some kind of attempt to reorder it (even though his own upload shows I have not). But in reply to his ever-increasing responses below (which imply they have to do a lot of refunds - unless he's edited that - I don't even bother reading everything he writes now): I wanted to upload screenshots but Trustpilot doesn’t allow you to add a url, and I don’t want to risk this review being taken down for breaching their policy. I've left three poor reviews on here in five years (he claimed I am a troll). Martin claimed his colleagues were "his staff" so I assumed that made him the CEO (he refuted my claim that he claimed he was the CEO – but keep reading, dear reader). As proof of his claim about "his staff" (I wrote this before I learned the truth), the text of his last (again, "his last") email to me: From me: "Sorry, I’m not sure how your inability to replicate the issue at a different time from a different country using a different URL has any bearing on my refund." From Martin: "I want to make sure you are not selling me bullsh*t here by lying about the reason. I do not appreciate when people give me false information." From me "I already explained my issue to one of your colleagues. I don’t want to waste any more time on this. I’d rather spend it telling all the vpn reviewers that your money back guarantee is bullsh*t."From Martin: "To me, it doesn't matter what you explain to my staff, only what I ask for. As you have a very poor attitude, go ahead and spread false information. It's really easy to prove we the opposite. I'm done dealing with poor attitudes. Never contact me ever again, it's not worth my time. Bye Ed!"** One of Martin’s responses states that in their small print it says that once a user has connected to a server it invalidates the 14 day "cooling off period". I managed to connect to just one of their British servers and it didn't work so I disconnected after probably less than a minute (though I can’t recall the exact mechanism for disconnecting). From previous complaints on here it seems that they log how much data a customer uses, so Martin very likely knows that I did not use their service. *** I emailed Martin’s colleague (Manish, the original support person) to point out that Martin has shared my personal email below and notifying him that I intend to pursue them through the EU (small claims) court and that they would be liable for the 500-krona fee if I succeed. Martin responded (yay!) claiming again that I was a “scammer”, that this is a “fake review”, that he has the right to share my personal email (what?), and that I would have to pay for their lawyers if my action was unsuccessful (er, no). I believe this staggering ignorance says it all. I’m on paternity leave at the moment (though he will probably claim that my unborn daughter is a lie too) so I have the time and inclination to continue to refute his responses. **** So, we finally come to the most interesting part. While researching what company lies behind PrivateVPN and who I should thus be making my claim against (it’s privat kommunikation sverige ab = Private Communication Sweden Ltd) I discovered (through Swedish sites allabolag.se and ratsit.se) that, although Martin has claimed multiple times that they have been providing their service since 2009, the business was founded in 2012, and there are only two board members (as of today): Martin Daniel Müller, who owns 100% of the company and who lives with the other board member, Sara Else Margareta. This is all publicly available so I'm not disclosing personal information here (and I believe it is germane to the current issue). So, this is the mysterious Martin who was so offended that I believed his email implied he is the CEO. He is (or the equivalent thereof). Go figure… I assume he’ll hastily edit his responses now. He's now used my customer details (TrustPilot doesn't give my surname) to find every URL in which I am mentioned and post them below. Different class.
