Make sure you are 100% confident before installing any mail service product. Understand the risks involved if you are banned for problems due to bounce rates (which will never be told to you) including other forms on your website that will have go be swapped out. Reach out to their customer service team to evaluate support before purchase. Look for user group support on Facebook or other sites to ensure that you have adequate help when something goes wrong.

I switched to MailPoet 3 after several years of using MailChimp. Not only can you create a nifty sign-up form for subscribers, you can also create newsletters to send out to your customers for new product announcements, blog/news posts and more. My experience using MailPoet in that regard was fairly solid, however the layout of the newsletter was a bit limited in options.

I used an email list cleaning company to verify my list before sending a campaign. The open and click rate were both excellent, however I apparently had an unacceptable Spam rate according to MailPoet and therein began a series of problems I encountered.

I received a computer-generated letter saying that my bounce rate was too high and I would be permanently banned from using MailPoet 3 for life. What???

No additional information, no appeal process, nothing.

So I went to a very large Facebook User's Group and posted my situation and that is when I got a real person form MailPoet to respond to my concern.

The response I got was a bit 'cavalier' -- a kind of polite "gee we're sorry, yeah, you're basically screwed but maybe I can help you out". Not any kind of sympathetic understanding for what it took to learn and integrate the product in the first place or information about why I was banned.

The worst part is that MailPoet also allows for the creation of Subscription forms, so it is unclear to me whether or not I am also 'banned' from the use of their subscription forms.

So my review as I mentioned is I think it's a good product but a word of caution before leaving Chimpmail -- if you end up getting banned you will be facing hours of work removing the subscriber forms from your site and other elements that you decided to include from MailPoet in this instance.

I have learned my lesson and will be sending out groups of emails going forward. I am glad I am a member of the user group on Facebook because that visibility got the attention of an employee who wanted to offer customer service to me as a result. I wonder if I would have gotten any reply otherwise.
