PROS & CONS

What are the best aspects of this product?

The product looks nice if you spend the time to make it look nice. Else it looks very basic.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Sales and their IPO is the only thing they are interested in. Once sale is are you realize nothing works correctly

What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?

Reports that work, And not charging clients for extra costs to get a reports that show little information.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Lightspeed has been a horror for us since the start. What we were presented at during the sales meeting made us very excited and happy, but the second the contract was signed, for our 3 locations everything went down hill. I had to pull teeth and send multiple messages and to get our installation done on time. And even at that they finished doing it opening day, and were debugging while we had to serve clients. And that is a whole other story.

The product itself looks good but really does not work for a restaurant. Little things like having a single client pay without closing the full table is not possible. Servers need to figure out all these ways/trick to speed up service without being slowed down by Lightspeed. Items cannot be sent to multiple locations at ones (if something come from both the kitchen and bar like a Caeser with bacon)

The reports are terrible. Items are split up in ways were the they are split if clients have payed 1/2 or 1/3 of the amount. So items like Natchos that are group type items, to no how many have been sold you need to add the full one, the 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, .... amounts. So extracting any information takes a long time. Many of the reports have numerical errors in them, and as such they cannot be trusted. Also, tyring to export hourly sales or receipts all have wrong times on them (our restaurant closes at 1am, yet it still show receipts until 5am)

It is not possible to use the inventory option in bar because they can only have units

What are the best aspects of this product?

very simple to use. End user friendly. Easy for staff.
When it works it works, every once in a while they seem to make a change that creates havoc on your business then it takes them forever to fix it.

What aspects are problematic or could work better?

Our back end is reporting zero sales, all receipts gone, etc. for the last 2 days. Front Line support only offers to escalate, we are basically dead in the water. Been calling support since it occurred.
Advance reporting is fairly basic.
API - I had asked about limitations on the API they offer and it took forever to get a response. They did tell me to ask in the forums as they do not talk about it via support any longer. ( that was enough I guess to make me back away from trying to do any integrations with their integration partners - I am not sure why anyone would be an integration partner with them when this is how they answer things)
An example would be - They have REPORTING partners and the partners told me they rely on the API provided by LIGHTSPEED, Since lightspeed was not able to provide much of anything I though it best not to invest..

What features/services would you like to see in future versions of this product?

Much better reporting
Support that can handle more difficult questions.
Front Line support that knows the product much better
Weekend support that is able to handle major issues so business is kept online.

What specific problems in your company were solved by this product?

Problems resolved - Well I guess we were not paying our accounting team enough as now we have to do way more things manually which creates lots of extra hours for them.

Lightspeed Experience has been a total nightmare, I purchased my system for my Brick and mortar and ecommerce appox a month ago, so when I reach out to Lightspeed I kept telling Taylor how easy would the inventory be to change over and he ensured me they do in everyday and the tech would do it all, so when we started training they told us that we would have to change all the headers to to be able to sell ecommerce so that lied is going to cost my company thousands of dollars in labor cost if I was told that at the beginning I would kept my Clover system, then we decided to go ahead and try itand we would transfer everything ourselves after we got it running, and we purchase the systemic told Taylor we had our Merchant he said that's ok, so now we got everything hook up they are telling me now that they have to take care of Merchant or pay a their party so either way I'm screw they kept tell me they was cheaper than anyone and that was a BIG lie, I ask for my money back and they wanted me to try it but i am done with them and their lies, I call my credit card Co. and they will try to help me so everyone just beware with lightspeed.

They also had a convenient app but unilaterally decided to remove future support of the app without sending a single bit of notification to the current users.
