What do you like best?
It's deep. There's thorough space for paper trail and communications on projects, time and statuses. It's dirt cheap.
What do you dislike?
It's not primarily a visual interface. It's a huge bulletin board system, which has its benefits in support systems or IT environments (for example, but not in advertising and workflow environments like ours. We need to see everything at a glance, we need to make changes in real time, we need to make decisions quickly.
It's dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for. We have to recreate a lot of work by hand to make it more visual. But to get a system that accommodates our needs better, we have to spend more than 40x the cost of Intervals on something more robust like Mavenlink.
Recommendations to others considering the product
Look for opportunities to make Intervals a stronger user experience, particularly with visual support and more simplified, drag-and-drop functionality. The dashboard was a positive step. Rely on the bulletin board roots of Intervals for back-end tracking and internal communications, but not as primary day-to-day management.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We work in advertising, so we're helping clients every day by making strategies, research, analytics, media buys and creative products (websites, apps, videos, print ads, signage, outdoor, radio, photography, etc..
Intervals helps us organize our thoughts and timing, holds us accountable for steps in the process and helps us effectively archive and track historical data.
What do you like best?
What I like best is that it is in the cloud. Now, this is not a differentiator by any means.
What do you dislike?
I think the entire product is cumbersome to use. It has a steep learning curve that does not fit smaller teams. I think the product was build by developers (without UX experience for developers.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We run a large development shop that include other departments. We were trying to keep track of our time spent on tasks and projects. However, intervals is not very user friendly and has received very little user adoption.
What do you like best?
Intervals allows you to accurately track how much time has been allocated to a specific project which is useful for budgeting and for discovering cracks where time can slip through.
What do you dislike?
I don't like when intervals is used to track employee time in fifteen minute increments because it creates this culture of distrust in employee productivity.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Specifically we don't undercharge clients when we can see exactly how many hours from each employee have gone into similar projects.
What do you like best?
Lots of detail available if you take the time to set up correctly.
Easy for contractors/ employees to use.
What do you dislike?
Difficult to learn how to set up and to efficiently manage.
Recommendations to others considering the product
If you are looking to fully integrate with Quickbooks, this is not the right app for you.
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We are attempting to manage virtual projects from a variety of locations, with a variety of needs. We know that the system can be efficient, if the manager sets up the nomenclature and hierarchy of participants correctly.
What do you like best?
Intervals gave us the ability to track our time spent on tasks easily
What do you dislike?
The overall functionality was pretty basic and didn't give much room to implement efficiencies for our projects
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Being able to track time spent on tasks and projects
