WRITE A REVIEWFakespot gets Fakespotted at their own game and gets an F from my side. At first glance, the company seems like it has all sorts of great reviews when you visit their site until the research is done. Fakespot clearly controls the reviews that post on their site, somewhat hypocritical in ways. If you scroll this site, you will see the reality with both good and bad rather than biased one-sided reviews. I have solid evidence that Fakespot software has very serious flaws as will be explained. All comments that are to follow have been documented in both a written manner as well as multiple photographs. So let's get started with this. Firstly, I'm a book author that uses Amazon as most people in this day and age. I have had positive reviews for 3 straight years with reviews coming all over the world from reputable sources. I put a lot of hard work and research into my books and the reviews reflect that, well at least for everyone except Fakespot. Well, due to the fact that my books have great reviews with readers expressing kindness and emotion that these books exist and bring back historical memories, Fakespots system wrongfully perceives this as fake. I have documented this from day one and will pursue this to the utmost. This is only the beginning. Next to show that Fakespots software is definitely flawed will be proven again. Back in 2018, Amazon had technical issues whereby my books were getting somewhat mixed up with another product that had nothing to do with my books. To be precise mousetraps. So not only were my books showing mousetraps but there was a combination of reviews for books and mousetraps. Unfortunately, Fakespot didn't pick this up thereby damaging my flawless 5-star reputation. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Later when I looked even further, I once again found another flaw. When you look at the analysis, it states over 100 reviews were analyzed...interesting when the book only had 40 plus reviews. I have taken photographs of this matter and it soon will be presented for legal action so there will be no way Fakespot will sneak out of this matter. Granted I'm aware that there is some mischief on Amazon with some companies using fake reviews, but the fact that Fakespot has tried to take this approach with legitimate people is crossing the barrier. In my case, all customers that left reviews have gotten actual physical copies of the book which will be proven in a court of law when the shipping labels and tracking is provided once again showing the inaccuracy of this software. The company seems to keep their contact information very limited and at the moment it appears there is some small office in downtown Manhattan in the Wall Street area based on the information I found on Google. Trustpilot does not allow links to be uploaded, but simply type lawsuits against Fakespot and you will find several interesting articles. One of which Fakespot admits flaws with algorithms which completely miffed on book reviews. The article is called Fakespot Responds to Readers to Complaints Over Book Review Ratings. There is also another link titled Why not to trust Fakespot and why there's a good case to sue them. So they are basically committing defamation against authors that have invested years of hard work and deterring authors from reaching their potential. It is not justified especially when trying to get a book to be successful is hard enough, to begin with. I will be adding a link soon for those that feel their rights and legal integrity has been broken by this company. Feel free to contact me as I'm certain the list will grow. Based on the article I read, it is obvious there are many authors that have a potential case in the legal system.
I formerly trusted Fakespot. However, I just looked at a Kindle book with four 5-star reviews. All looked fake. The English was broken, and the the reviews were either somewhat nonsensical or irrelevant to a "how to" book. One review mentioned how engaging the cast of characters were for a book that has no characters. My best guess is that the fake reviewer is just recycling a review.I ran this suspect book's URL through Fakespot and it rated it an "A". I now feel I cannot trust Fakespot any longer. In reading other Trustpilot feedback, it's a shame reputable sellers are getting low rankings when obvious fakers get top ranking. I guess I am back to manually vetting reviews. Grrrrr!
I'm an Amazon seller and we never used any paid reviews for our products on Amazon (unlike many other sellers). Our products always had an "A" review grade on Fakespot and I thought that was absolutely right because indeed 100% our product reviews are coming from our genuine customers. Today I came across the website and just checked our product review grades again and all of sudden the review grades became C, D, and F! I know that this is not true because again, we never use any paid reviews for our products! Definitely, something went wrong with this company. I messaged them to correct the review grades for our products on their website but haven't heard from them yet. It is really sad that this company is no longer reliable.
Unbelievable. As a small biz owner and new Amazon seller with only 8 ratings, I personally know each and every reviewer that has posted. Each user and review is 100% legit - yet Fakespot in its AI wisdom delivers an F.This tool is a detriment to the consumers it claims to be helping and delegitimizes honest manufacturers and sellers.
Fakespot says it is checking Amazon reviews, but the question is who is checking on Fakespot.I was using this to check products on Amazon. I realized though that their formula must have problems with it, whether intentionally or unintentionally I don't know.Just as an example, there is a product which has 240 reviews, only 19 are rated 3 stars or lower. Fakespot gives the product low reliability saying that only 40% of the reviews are reliable and it gives an adjusted rating from above 4 stars to less than 3 stars. That is, according to Fakespot, based on the reliable reviews, the product is < 3 stars. However, even if only 40% are considered reliable, Let's say that's 96 reviews are considered reliable and even say all 19 negative reviews are considered reliable. That leaves 77 reviews which are 4 stars or higher. Mathematically, it is impossible for 19 reviews of 3 stars or lower and 77 reviews which are 4 stars or higher to result in an adjusted review of less than 3 stars. Even if you take the worst case of all 19 negative reviews are 1 star (which they are not) and that all 77 positive reviews are only 4 stars (which they are not), that's still a 3.5 star rating. Reading other reviews here on Trustpilot indicate that Fakespot is very shady and intentionally reducing ratings based on money it receives or does not receive from products being reviewed.
