What do you like best?
AppDynamics is a 'full-fat' APM & RUM product with a large feature-set & significant strengths around deep-dive analysis of application & network performance issues.
What do you dislike?
- Requires significant investment & commitment of resource to implement & configure well, which is required if you want to see any RoI
- Licensing model is outdated, and expensive.
- Lagging well behind other vendors in the same market with regards capabilities for instrumentation of 'cloud native' services
- Customer support has been consistently poor

Invest heavily in adoption, training, configuration and integration.

We are trying to use AppDynamics to enhance observability of our production applications and services. However, we have yet to realise significant benefits / RoI from our use of AppDynamics.
What do you like best?
Ease of use. Very cool applicauon and functions

Support was subpar. Could use more handson training

There is no discovery process. There is limited automation supoort as agreed by gartner reports for 2019 for APM
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please do a through POC before using the product evaluation and see if it meet your needs and also have a timeline for future roadmaps if possible

Application response metrics are probably the most useful part of this tool
What do you dislike?
That is only takes a sampling of transactions making it impossible to use as a tool to troubleshoot a particular user experience. Also their support of deployment and ongoing support has been a problem.
What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
We were hoping to leverage the tool to isolate user experience issues but found that it really could not do that, at lease in their SAAS offering. Perhaps an on prem deployment might have been a better choice.
