What do you like best?

They have a pretty good tool, but it's all pretty much the same as other goal-setting software out there. I don't mean to be harsh, but the reality is that they all perform the same functions with little variety, mainly achieved through the UI. This UI doesn't have any problems, but neither does it stand out as anything special. I suppose the best thing I can say about it is that it works, seemingly without bugs, and doesn't hassle me. That's all pretty good compared to a lot of software out there these days.

What do you dislike?

They offered a discounted rate, then removed it at the last minute. The chat assist feature usually doesn't get reviewed for hours on end. They recommended that I schedule a meeting with tech support for something that was not a bug, and tech support didn't even call me for that meeting. The system lets you nest KRs within KRs indefinitely, but you have to use the chart view, which is certainly a good idea, but lacking in actual implementation.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Just stick with the pricing on their page and don't buy into their discounted offers.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

As a service and sales organization, I'm trying to set goals with my team for greater focus and execution. I was ready to sign up and solve that problem, but they pulled a bait-and-switch with pricing, which made me rethink it. So I'm not solving any problems with this software now, but I would have solved that organizational problem.

quotes

What do you like best?

The charts are nice- especially the progress roll-ups and activity over time.

What do you dislike?

It's a little hard to get into the specific area I need fast enough.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Make sure you set up annual goals first, then nest from there.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It helps everyone stay more focused on quarterly goals.

What do you like best?

Starting out with the OKR methodology, it was great to have a tool that allowed a lot of flexibility in developing and tracking OKRs. The iconography and colors are helpful in determining what you are looking at, and the many different available views has potential to be quite useful (for managers tracking direct reports, for example). The Slack integration is great for making it easy to check in. Our customer success manager is helpful, generous with time, and no question is a dumb question.

What do you dislike?

The disconnect between Ally training materials' distinction between O/KR traits and the software's support of the duality model (org O -> org KR -> team KR -> individual/sub KR) with no explicit support for the flexible model (org O -> org KR -> team O-> team KR -> etc) is perplexing. Either stick to a distinction between Os and KRs and don't let them ever be the same thing, or rephrase the distinction to match the structure the software supports. The Ally software also includes many features "following, reporting, notifications) that have little to no documentation, and end up feeling like "fluff" added to make it look like the software can do a lot, but actually offer little real value.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Really understand the approach you want to take with onboarding your organization to the OKR methodology so you can better understand the tool that will meet your needs, provide training in the process and its value from the outset, ask lots of questions of the company reps you talk to.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The long-term visioning has been very helpful for our engineering teams, and the ability to see where every team's work cascades up to the company's goals has been helpful for people being invested in their work.

quotes

What do you like best?

Pretty easy to use interface. % completion of OKRs is easy to understand.

What do you dislike?

Difficult to see how all OKRs align and rollup across the organization. Also feel like the process to input KRs could be easier.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You really need a champion to help setup the platform for your organization's specific needs and to train all users.

Setting up the proper weekly reminders also helps improve adoption.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Trying to solve how to align departmental goals with larger organizational goals as well as how to meaninfully track performance.

This tool has simplified reporting back in our manager meetings.

quotes

What do you like best?

Being able to input OKRs really easy. Ease of use when it comes to checking-in on the Key results. Customer Support also responds quick. I also like how they calculate the progress versus the expected for each Key Result. It is also very easy for me to change/switch from my Own OKRs to our Company's Objective. Overall, it is okay for us users.

What do you dislike?

Needs a little improvement in terms of UI. It is sometimes difficult to drag around the key results to other parent Key Results. I suggest they should also have a tab for reports, where you can download charts or files showing the status of the Key Results since it's hard to dig deeper into the results just to see the progress (too many clicks) probably breaks the rules of OKRs but sometimes we have to do it and sometimes, colleagues doesn't have the time to go to each of our OKRs. I also saw another software that offers almost the same features but for free, UI however is worse. Maybe they can lower their pricing since we only use the software for OKRs nothing more.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Educate yourself more about OKRs, watch YouTube videos in terms of how to implement. Instead of doing your OKRs manually, it's better to use a software like Ally. If you have a Sales Team, this I would recommend.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Being able to see through the whole company in terms of the progress of our objectives. People are more motivated in completing their tasks related to our overall goal because of transparency.
