Marg Affinity Designer

The program is a redesigned version of Serif DrawPlus that looked dated in the end. Designer looks better. Perhaps it sports a little more clumsy interface though.

Affinity Designer has been rebuild from scratch but after year of development is has disappointingly few advanced features. There is no precision tools, no really useful perspective tools, no mesh gradient, no knife tool and no shape building tools. It is all very basic.

It is very cheap compared to Adobe Illustrator but it also very basic. Since free Inkscape can do whatever a professional designer wants, value for money is not great.

Compare it with other tools like Inkscape and Illustrator and CorelDRAW before making a decision.

I don't use it anymore. If you want a cheap tool for digital painting it could be a good tool, but I could not solve my business problem without a more complete feature set. I tried to use it for graphic designs for illustrations, logos, posters and occasionally icons.

It is cheap - but cheap is expensive if you have to do all by hand. Then there is no point in digital anyway.

The user interface is really nice to work with. It resembles Adobe Illustrator is the UI.

There are so many features that are hard to work with after using Illustrator. There are many extras Adobe has that you have to go the extra mile to achieve with Affinity.

If you're just looking to make basic vector designs, basic logos, this will work just fine. Any in depth digital illustration needs better software.

I love that I can do a lot of the things that I would need adobe software for at a much cheaper cost.

I don’t like that a few essential things are missing from the software. Also, it is not “truely” compatible with main file formats.

If you need a low cost full featured alternative to Adobe software, Affinity designer is a great option. But I’d wait if you are looking to switch your entire workflow over, Affinity designer just isn’t all the way there yet.

Low cost alternative to Adobe Photoshop and illustrator.

Affinity Designer and its friends are built native. This means that everything is blazing fast, especially since the developers are very well capable of implementing robust software.

There is a large set of features, and you can do everything from basic designs to complex illustrations.

Best of all, each product is sold at a very competitive price point.

In my opinion, the Affinity suite has gotten too slow in adding new features that it just seems like I keep waiting for too long for a certain basic feature a lot of people are asking for.

Small annoyances become repetitive, and over time some very specific tasks get a bit tedious to work on.

If you need a solid desktop-editing experience for UI and illustrations, Affinity Designer is a great choice to go with. It is significantly cheaper compared to other popular tools from Adobe and Sketch.

Unfortunately, the company seem to focus more on producing more products and start getting less time fixing issues and adding features.

The Affinity suite is extremely well-integrated with each other. If you get Designer, you also get a few basic pixel-editing tools. If you get Photo, you also get a little vector-based editing capabilities. The feature set is huge, and you can pretty much do almost everything you want to do in it.

Overall, it proves to be an incredible replacement for the overly expensive Adobe products.
